Conjunctive Adverbs

ਕੰਜਨਕਟਿਵ ਅਡਵਰਬਸ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਸਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਸਮਝਣਾ ਜਰੂਰੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇੰਡੀਪੈਂਡੈਂਟ ਕਲੌਸ (independent clause) ਕੀ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇੰਡੀਪੈਂਡੈਂਟ ਕਲੌਸ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਕਲੌਸ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜਿੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਬਜੈਕਟ (subject) ਅਤੇ ਪਰੈਡੀਕੇਟ (predicate) ਦੋਵੇਂ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਪੂਰਾ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਜਾਹਿਰ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ। 

ਕੰਜਨਕਟਿਵ ਅਡਵਰਬਸ, ਜਿੰਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਲਿਨਕਿੰਗ ਅਡਵਰਬਸ (linking adverbs) ਜਾਂ ਕਨੈਕਟਿੰਗ ਅਡਵਰਬਸ (connecting adverbs) ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਅਜਿਹੇ ਅਡਵਰਬ ਹੁੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਜੋ ਦੋ ਇਨਡੀਪੈਂਡੈਂਟ ਕਲੌਸਸ ਨੂੰ ਜੋੜਨ ਦਾ ਕੰਮ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

      i. Kuldeep didn’t want to play; likewise, his brother didn’t want to play either.
      ii. Kuldeep wanted to play football; comparatively, his brother wanted to play cricket.


      i. Kuldeep didn’t want to play; in contrast, his brother wanted to play.
     ii. Kuldeep loves playing football; on the other hand, his brother hates it.

Adding information

      i. Kuldeep loves playing football; also, he loves playing basketball.
     ii. He is tired; besides, he doesn’t want to play football.

Adding stronger information

      i. Kuldeep wasn’t allowed to play because he came late; furthermore, he isn’t a good player.
     ii. Being an actor is a tough job; moreover, you don’t get work easily.

Showing unexpected result

      i. We didn’t practice for the match; nevertheless, we won it comprehensively. 
     ii. He didn’t start playing basketball until last year; surprisingly, he still made into the team.


      i. We didn’t practice as much as we needed to; indeed, we barely spent 30 minutes on the field।
     ii. Kuldeep doesn’t enjoy playing cricket; in fact, he hates it।


      i. Kuldeep needs to come on time for the practice; otherwise, he won’t be allowed to play.
